New Work: notes
The new work continues with the ongoing undercurrent of losing ice, and employs a recurring motif of a square or rectangle. In this work I am presenting the square/rectangle in near portrait terms. This motif represents, to me, a form of footprint and fingerprint of our existence on the planet. It is a purposeful intrusiveness that is most often taken for granted.
This new work also is a return to predominantly brush painting. After a decade and a half of knife work, I wanted a quicker, more immediate response that, for me, could only be attained with a brush.
Hopefully you will find the images engaging and thought provoking as well as fun to look at. Thanks for taking the time to view them.
